CRUISE
Spring Cruise To The Highlands Saturday June 7th/08
Meeting Saturday 9am at Walmart parking lot near the corner of Bayview Avenue & Major MacKenzie Dr. 9:30am heading out to go north on the #404 to #48 and #12 continuing to Casino Rama where we will have a short coffee stop. After coffee we proceed east on the Monck Rd to where the town of Norland meets #35. On #35 we go north and then take to the back roads at Minden while stopping along the way at the Wild Water Reserve to watch the crazy kayakers, the pioneer Bethel Church & Cemetery, Haliburton Forest Wolf Centre, historic Maple Lake Stone Church (that was hit by the big tornado summer of 06), Buttermilk Falls and the historic Hawk River Log Chute.
We will finish our day in Haliburton Village for dinner at McKecks Place (ex hockey player owned and he is usually there for a chat) and then just down the road to the Delta Pinestone for the evening. Sunday after visiting the Haliburton Fish Hatchery (and seeing the ancient Haliburton Gold Trout species they are raising for restocking) we will head across scenic #118 and head to Port Carling for lunch. From Port Carling after lunch we'll disband the formal cruise and you can head south on #11 back to the GTA
Summer Cruise - Mosport American LeMans Series Event/Grand Prix of Mosport - Saturday August 23rd/08
Travel with the club to Canada's biggest sports car race at Mosport Park. All the major sports car teams will be there for a weekend of racing. Meeting Friday August 22nd at the Village Inn in Lakefield for accommodations and dinner. Lakefield is a quaint town with amazing Victorian architecture and shops. It is perhaps best known for Lakefield College where Prince Andrew attended school. The Village Inn is a new country hotel with modern upscale rooms with the Inn constructed in a traditional Victorian style. Saturday morning we will cruise the approx. 45 minute drive south to Mosport for the race day. Tickets are in the $40 range for Saturday. After the race day you can accommodate nearby if you plan to stay over on Sunday or you can make your way back Saturday night.
Fall Cruise - Niagara On The Lake - Oct 11th & 12th/08
Cruise from Toronto to Niagara on the Lake. Stops at several Niagara wineries. Check out the shops in downtown Niagara on the Lake. Pellar Estates winery tour and dinner at their 5 Star restaurant. Have your car photographed in front of the grand estate chateau. Accommodations Saturday night at Best Western Colonial Butler Inn. Returning to Toronto Sunday afternoon. Will meet at Yorkdale Mall parking lot Saturday morning at 9am to begin the cruise.
